Car Battery Checks and Replacement
You’ll already know that your battery is a key component in your vehicle and is used to power all the various electronic systems in your car. The starter motor, lights, wipers, air conditioning and radio all draw power from the battery. The battery itself is constantly recharged by the alternator, which is in turn activated by the timing belt.
Like any battery though, with regular use it begins to show signs of wear and reduced efficiency. When this happens, you’ll need to look at replacing the battery.

Advice
The loss of the electrical energy stored in the battery is normal when your car hasn’t been started for several weeks as it hasn’t been recharged by the alternator.
In winter, the battery loses charge faster due to the drop in temperature. Keeping a car battery charger handy can help you to start your engine if your battery runs flat.
Check your vehicle’s handbook for information about replacing your timing belt. If not replaced at the correct time and the belt breaks, the alternator won’t be able to charge the battery.
